GPS units

From Roadnav

Jump to: navigation, search

If your GPS unit works with Roadnav, please list it in the table below. If it does not work, please list it in the table below and file a bug report so it can get fixed. In either case, please limit the comments in the table to a couple sentences at most. Detailed information on units that don't work with Roadnav should go into the bug report.

Also, if you have a USB GPS unit that doesn't work, or are having difficulty with a serial GPS unit connected via a USB to serial adapter, please make sure you have the latest drivers for your USB GPS/USB to serial adapter. Some older drivers are known to cause problems with gpsd and may also adversely affect Roadnav. If that doesn't work, and you're not using gpsd (i.e. you selected Serial in the GPS tab of Preferences), please ensure your GPS unit is in NMEA mode and not in binary or a proprietary mode. gpsd users can use either binary or NMEA mode since gpsd understands both protocols. As such, if you can't get your GPS unit into NMEA mode, having your GPS talk to gpsd, and having Roadnav talk to gpsd may work better than having your GPS talk directly to Roadnav.
